Hiring fell 3.6% in August across almost all sectors compared to July, making it the third month in a row of hiring declines, according to LinkedIn’s State of the Labor Market report. Hiring in the United States remains down 23.8% year-over-year.

The fear of becoming obsolete, or FOBO, is a term used to describe the anxiety that workers feel about being replaced by new technologies, platforms and artificial intelligence. FOBO is a growing concern amongst the labor force, including both younger and older workers who are college graduates and hold advanced degrees, according to a recent Gallup poll.
Former Employees Accuse TikTok Of Racial Discrimination, Bias, Retaliation
Two Black former workers of video-sharing platform TikTok have filed a federal class action complaint alleging they faced racial discrimination and ultimately were fired from the company when they took the matter to human resources. Nnete Matima and Joël Carter claim in their Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaint that they were treated worse than their white peers while at TikTok, which has more than 150 million users in the United States and is owned by ByteDance, a Chinese tech company.

FTX Sues Former Employees of Hong Kong Affiliate, Seeks $157 Million
Bankrupt crypto exchange FTX has sued former employees of Salameda, a Hong Kong-incorporated entity affiliated with FTX that it says was controlled by the firm’s ex-CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, to recover about $157.3 million, according to a court filing late Thursday. The filing alleges Michael Burgess, Matthew Burgess, their mother Lesley Burgess, Kevin Nguyen, Darren Wong and two companies owned or controlled several firms that had accounts registered at FTX.com and FTX US, and fraudulently withdrew assets in the days leading up to FTX’s bankruptcy.

Good news for anyone looking for a job: Amazon is hiring 250,000 people in full-time, part-time, and seasonal fulfillment center and transportation roles in hundreds of cities and towns across the U.S. Amazon is the country’s leading job creator—adding more than 800,000 jobs in the last five years—and is now investing $1.3 billion this year toward pay increases for customer fulfillment and transportation employees, bringing the average pay for those roles to over $20.50 per hour (a more than 50% increase over five years), with some locations offering as much as $28 per hour.
