Twitter Accuses Meta Of Poaching Employees And Stealing Trade Secrets
Twitter is threatening legal action against Meta over its new text-based “Twitter killer” platform, accusing the social media giant of poaching former employees to create a “copycat” application. On Wednesday, Instagram parent company Meta introduced Threads, a text-based companion to Instagram that resembles Twitter and other text-based social platforms. Just hours later, a lawyer for Twitter, Alex Spiro, sent a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg accusing the company of engaging in “systematic, willful, and unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets and other intellectual property.”
Job Openings Fall By Half A Million
There were about half a million fewer job openings in May than the previous month, providing at least a modest sign that the ultra-tight labor market could be loosening a bit, the Labor Department reported Thursday. The closely watched Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey showed that listings fell to 9.82 million, down 496,000 from April and below the 9.9 million consensus estimate from FactSet. Openings outnumbered the available labor pool by 1.6 to 1 for the month, a level that had been closer to 2 to 1 just a few months ago.
FBI Reportedly Raided Kraken CEO Jesse Powell’s Home Over Hacking Accusation
The Federal Bureau of Investigation reportedly carried out a search at the residence of Jesse Powell, the man behind Kraken, the second-largest crypto exchange in the United States. People familiar with the matter revealed that the FBI’s raid was not in connection with Powell’s cryptocurrency business but related to his non-profit ventures.
Why Workers Have Quit Quitting
White-collar workers are sitting on the quitting sidelines. In 2023, the tech sector alone laid off over 216,000 professionals. Within the past month, Walgreens, Robinhood, Ford, KPMG, Goldman Sachs, Uber, Oracle, Tyson Foods and Grubhub all announced layoffs, according to Forbes.
Taylor Swift Agreed To FTX Partnership, But The Crypto Exchange Bailed, Source Tells CNBC
Taylor Swift signed and agreed to a sponsorship deal with bankrupt crypto exchange FTX after months of discussion before executives at FTX decided not to go through with the deal, a person familiar with the matter told CNBC. The nature of the agreement, previously reported by the New York Times on Thursday, contradicts public messaging about the nature of the failed FTX-Swift deal. Public statements by a class-action attorney lauded Swift’s due diligence efforts and said that the artist asked the exchange to explain why its listed assets were not considered unregistered securities.

Gaps in your résumé don’t have to be perceived as roadblocks during your job search, as long as you frame them right.
