While the United States does not have a 25% unemployment rate like the 1930s, many Americans feel like they are struggling, worried about their deteriorating financial situation and are working harder and longer hours, only to stagnate or fall behind. On TikTok, this zeitgeist is called the “Silent Depression,” comparing the current times to the era of the Great Depression.

Why September Feels Like ‘Back To School’ For Working Adults
It’s a bittersweet time of year. The month of September represents a time of change, when many of us segue from a lower gear at work, leisurely summer vacations, and basking in the warm weather to a slight chill in the air, signaling the change of seasons and getting back into the work groove. Millions More Workers Would Be Entitled To Overtime Pay Under A Proposed Biden Administration Rule
The Biden administration proposed a new rule Wednesday that would make 3.6 million more U.S. workers eligible for overtime pay, the most generous such increase in decades. The rule revives an Obama-era effort that faced pushback from business leaders and Republicans and was ultimately scuttled in court. Business groups Labor advocates and liberal lawmakers have pushed the Biden administration to take the fight back up, arguing that overtime protections have been sharply eroded over the decades by wage stagnation and inflation.
Netflix Faces Off With Creators, Advertises For A $900,000 A.I. Product Manager
While creative talent is sweating it out on picket lines, Netflix is hard at work developing its machine learning infrastructure. Streaming video giant Netflix is looking to hire artificial intelligence specialists, dangling one salary that pays as much as $900,000, even as Hollywood actors and writers are in the midst of a historic strike that aims to curtail the industry's use of A.I. One job posting, for a product manager of Netflix's machine learning platform, lists a total compensation range of $300,000-$900,000. "You will be creating product experiences that have never been done before," the listing boasts.
