Sam Bankman-Fried headed to jail on Friday after a judge sided with a request by federal prosecutors to revoke the FTX founder’s bail over alleged witness tampering. Bankman-Fried was remanded to custody directly from a court hearing in New York and sent to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, Bureau of Prisons records show.

Hundreds of employees at the Department of Health and Human Services in San Francisco have been told to work from home due to the high level of crime in the area around its office, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The department recommended that employees worked remotely “for the foreseeable future,” the report says, citing an August 4 memo sent to staff, a copy of which the Chronicle said it had obtained.

LGBTQ dating app Grindr has issued a new return-to-office policy requiring staff to relocate to other cities, just two weeks after its workers announced they were unionizing with the Communications Workers of America. The certification form, sent to workers on Monday night and obtained by Motherboard, states that the policy requires workers to either move within 50 miles of their newly designated office or lose their jobs.
UBS To Pay U.S. $1.43 Billion For Alleged Fraud Over Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities
Banking group UBS and many of its U.S.-based affiliates agreed to pay $1.43 billion in penalties to settle a civil action alleging fraud in the sale of residential mortgage-backed securities, the company and the Justice Department said on Monday. The civil action was filed in November 2018 alleging misconduct related to UBS’ underwriting and issuance of residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) issued in 2006 and 2007, according to the Justice Department. The United States had filed a complaint alleging that UBS defrauded investors in connection with the sale of 40 RMBS issued in 2006 and 2007. It alleged that UBS knowingly made false and misleading statements to buyers of those securities.

The study, conducted by Envoy, surveyed over 1,000 company executives and workplace managers in the United States. It found that 80% of respondents said they would have made different decisions about returning to the office if they had a better understanding of what their employees wanted.
