Happy And Succeeding: For Those Who Have Blind Ambition To Achieve Great Things
Our Weekly Roundup
How To Answer ‘Tell Me About Yourself’ In A Job Interview
It can be challenging for people to sell themselves in a job interview. They may feel uncomfortable that they will come across as bragging about their accomplishments and being perceived as possessing a big ego. Some people feel that their résumé and reputation should speak for themselves, and there is no need to go into great detail during the hiring process. Others may mistake the “tell me about yourself” question as offering a litany of what they’ve done from high school and onward.
UAW Members Go On Strike At Three Key Auto Plants After Deal Deadline Passes
Thousands of members of the United Auto Workers went on strike at three U.S. assembly plants of General Motors, Ford Motor and Stellantis, after the union and the automakers failed to reach a deal on a new labor contract Thursday night. “The UAW Stand Up Strike begins at all three of the Big Three,” the union said in a post on X, the site formerly known as Twitter, just after midnight Friday.
No More WFH: Goldman Sachs Asks Employees To Return To Office 5 Days A Week—And It’s Not Alone
Working from home surged in popularity because of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. Although the crisis is largely in the rearview mirror, remote work continues to be popular because it offers flexibility and alleviates commuting stress. But that convenience is no longer available at Wall Street juggernaut Goldman Sachs Group Inc. According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Goldman is urging its employees to return to the office full time, following senior managers’ frustration over some staff not being present five days a week.

Google Layoffs Hit Hundreds On Recruiting Team As Company ‘Meaningfully’ Slows Hiring
Tech giant Google is reportedly cutting hundreds of jobs within its recruiting organization as the company pulls back on hiring. “We continue to invest in top engineering and technical talent while also meaningfully slowing the pace of our overall hiring. In line with this, the volume of requests for our recruiters has gone down. In order to continue our important work to ensure we operate efficiently, we’ve made the hard decision to reduce the size of our recruiting team,” Google spokesperson Courtenay Mencini told CRN in an email.
Salesforce Goes On ‘Boomerang’ Hiring Spree
Salesforce Inc. announced that it is hiring 3,300 people across its departments just months after laying off 8,000 employees in January. The cloud-based software company said recruitment efforts would include rehiring some “boomerangs,” or people who worked at Salesforce before going to a different company, according to its CEO. “Our job is to grow the company and to continue to achieve great margins,” Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff told Bloomberg Thursday in an interview at the company’s annual conference in San Francisco.
How Long Should A Résumé Be?
As a recruiter for more than 25 years, I’ve witnessed the war between human resources, hiring managers, interviewers, job seekers and others who fiercely debate how long a résumé should be. There is, however, one consensus that people can agree upon: presenting a 10-plus page résumé is ridiculous—even if you’re Elon Musk. It’s important to note that the length of your résumé should not be the primary focus. Instead, the content is what matters. Ensure that the document is specifically tailored to the job that you’re applying for. The bullet points of your current work responsibilities must address the needs outlined in the job description.
Let’s Go Live With Jack Kelly
In a cooling job market, it becomes increasingly harder to find a new job. In this LinkedIn Live, Gina Riley and I talk about how job seekers may be sabotaging themselves throughout the application and interview process. She advises on what you can do to be seen by key decision makers to get a foot in the door. The job search is about energy management: how do you spend your time? Gina advocates building relationships and having informational conversations—building a know, like and trust factor—rather than just applying for jobs.
How To Answer The Question ‘Why Are You Interested In This Position?’ In A Job Interview
If you’ve been interviewing recently, you have probably noticed that human resources, internal corporate recruiters and hiring managers typically ask the same standard questions. Asking candidates, “Why are you interested in this position?” is safe and does not require a lot of thought and imagination. Since companies frequently ask the same interview questions, it puts the job hunter in an advantageous position. By anticipating and practicing answering these commonly asked questions ahead of time, your preparedness and well-thought-out answers will help you shine in the interview.
How To Find A New Job
Finding a new job is hard work and involves incredible stress. If you are out of work, it becomes your primary focus. If you are employed, the job hunt becomes like a second job. Most people only talk about their successes, but may encounter rejections, ghosting and rude treatment. It’s an unfortunate part of the interview process. You may be required to interview with three to 10 people over several months. Then, you may be met with little to no feedback. The odds are high that you’ll be ghosted and never know why you weren’t chosen for the opportunity.
How AI Is A Game Changer For Recruiting And Retention
Seemingly overnight, artificial intelligence became the most exciting new technology. As it relates to businesses, AI has become a positive game changer for recruiting, retention, learning and development programs. In an interview with Salesforce interim chief people officer Nathalie Scardino, she discussed how the cloud computing and social enterprise software-as-a-service provider is leveraging AI for the company and its clients.
