In a memo to employees, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy ordered his workforce to return to the office at least three days a week. Jassy plans to implement this change effective May 1. In the directive to his staff, the chief executive told his employees that it’s easier to strengthen the company culture and learn from one another when immersed in projects and activities with co-workers. He believes workers will be more engaged when in an office setting together.
The ‘Sandwich Generation’ Is Financially Taking Care Of Their Parents, Kids And Themselves
Many Americans are financially squeezed, sandwiched between caring for their children and young adults, while also providing for their aging parents. As life expectancy continues to rise and many young adults grapple with financial autonomy, 23% of adults in the United States are now part of what is being called the “sandwich generation,” according to a Pew Research Center survey. The sandwich generation consists of adults with a parent 65 years or older who are raising a minor or providing for an adult child.
Apple Is Cutting Contractors To Save Costs
Instead of laying off full-time permanent employees, Apple has begun letting go of contractors, the New York Post reported. In a cost-cutting move, jettisoning temporary staff doesn’t create the sensational headlines garnered when permanent employees are downsized. Like most large organizations, the iPhone juggernaut supplements its permanent employees with temporary personnel provided by third-party staffing agencies. These workers have contract agreements with outside agencies, unaffiliated with Apple. The contracts usually offer around 12 to 15 months of work, depending on the assignments.

The most recent addition is “Bare Minimum Monday.” According to this trend, after dreading the Sunday Scaries, you can low-key get through the new workweek by coasting through a bare-minimum approach on Monday. The concept is similar to quiet quitting, as you work—but not too hard. As the name suggests, you do enough to get by without stressing yourself out. TikToker Marisa Jo brought this trend to light, and it went viral on the social media platform with about 1.8 million views and counting.
