Happy And Succeeding In The Future Of Work
You’ll Be Shocked To Learn What Happens After A Recession Ends
The United States may be better off than you think. Currently, the big concern and preoccupation for people is whether or not the U.S. will be heading into a recession. It’s the big boogeyman hiding in the closet that people are all supposed to be afraid of. Of course, it’s not pleasant when the economy contracts and people lose their jobs, savings and investments. However, you can’t simply look at the job market, economy and financial markets in a snapshot picture. There are ebbs and flows over time. Short term, the situation may look bleak. Looking over the horizon, everything could turn around, as history has proven.
Instead Of Hybrid, Remote Or In-Office Work Styles, This May Be A Better Option
The conversations surrounding returning to work are primarily focused on hybrid, remote or in-person models. They all have their added benefits and detractions. However, there is another option that offers a potentially better balance of life and work that is mostly overlooked by major corporations: flexibility.
NYC’s $58 Billion Remote Work Wipeout
The shift to remote work destroyed about $58 billion, or 33%, in the value of office real estate in New York City through 2021, according to a working paper. The provocatively titled “Work From Home and the Office Real Estate Apocalypse,” published earlier this summer, underscores how the work-from-home boom was largely a bust for pricey corporate office space.
Feds Investigating Crypto Exchange Kraken For Allegedly Violating Iran Sanctions
Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is being investigated by federal authorities over suspicions that it violated U.S. sanctions by allowing users in Iran to buy and sell digital assets, according to a new report. The New York Times reported Tuesday that the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control has been investigating Kraken since 2019 and is expected to issue a fine. The Times said Kraken would be the largest U.S. crypto exchange to be penalized for violating sanctions against Iran that were imposed in 1979.

In the fallout of the months-long, extremely public saga of Elon Musk making and then deciding to abandon his $44 billion bid to acquire Twitter, the social media site is reeling from bad press and chief executive Parag Agrawal is struggling to keep executives from jumping ship. As the legal battle to prevent Musk from backing out of his deal nears, Twitter is struggling with staff departures, falling morale, and reduced spending from marketers, the Financial Times reports.
Breaking A Code: HR Helpless As Techies Use Offers To Fish For Better Jobs
When 30-year-old software engineer Swapnil Parjatiya (name changed) thought of leaving his multinational IT company after lining up jobs in other companies, he faced a challenge: the three-month-long notice period forced him to forgo multiple offers requiring him to join immediately or within 30 days of resigning.
How To Deal With Work Stress—And Actually Recover From Burnout
There’s job stress, and then there’s the crushing pressure paramedics went through during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The uncertainty, the dread, the constantly changing protocols, the shortages of personal protective equipment, the multiple calls to the same nursing home — it was almost too much for Kate Bergen of Manahawkin, New Jersey.
5 Signs It’s Time to Hire a Career Coach
A career coach is a professional hired to help people achieve professional goals. They use different techniques to help clients self-reflect, realize their goals and reach their full potential. While their main goal is to help you find a new job by optimizing your resume and portfolio, career coaches are, ultimately, connectors. They may have insight into your industry or industries similar, with a network that could boost your visibility. But career coaches can help you in more ways than just strategy.

A 2021 women’s leadership study from LeanIn.org and McKinsey & Co. found that American women held 41% of corporate management positions, and women continue to fight underrepresentation when it comes to board positions and CEO roles.
