Employees increasingly say that unnecessary meetings have cut down on their productivity during the work day, according to a new survey of 10,624 knowledge workers released by the productivity management software company Asana. On average, employees spend 58 percent of their day on work coordination instead of focusing on their skilled, strategic jobs. Nearly a quarter also say that they have too many meetings, which contributes to a decrease in productivity.

LinkedIn Says Amazon Is The Top U.S. Company To Work For If You Want Career Growth
LinkedIn on Wednesday named Amazon the top U.S. company to work for if you’re seeking career growth. It’s the second year Amazon has topped the list. LinkedIn’s 2022 Top Companies list tracks seven pillars focused on career progression: Ability to advance, skills growth, company stability, external opportunity, company affinity, gender diversity and spread of educational backgrounds. The company said the rankings are based on data from its 810 million members and investments companies make in employees.

States Put Unemployment Insurance On Chopping Block
State legislatures are proposing bills to pare back unemployment insurance programs as the pandemic-era labor market rebounds, continuing a trend seen in the wake of the Great Recession. Lawmakers in at least nine states have considered legislation this year to amend benefits. Most seek to decrease the duration of jobless aid. Some would cut the weekly benefit amount or make recipients’ work-search requirements more stringent, according to labor advocates.
Apple Whistleblower Movement Torn Over Harassment Allegations
A pair of ex-Apple employees who made headlines last year for leading a whistleblower movement against the company have since become embroiled in a bizarre legal fight, accusing each other of harassment and stalking. Cher Scarlett and Ashley Gjøvik co-founded a whistleblower campaign called #AppleToo that last summer and fall published dramatic stories of gender and racial discrimination, sexual harassment and other ills from employees of the famously secretive tech giant.
