Higher interest rates on credit cards and mortgages have a chilling effect on growth, which will potentially usher the U.S. into a recession. Coinbase is laying off almost a fifth of its workforce amid a collapse in its stock and crypto prices. The cryptocurrency exchange will cut 18% of full-time jobs, according to an email sent to employees Tuesday morning. Coinbase has roughly 5,000 full-time workers, translating to a head count reduction of around 1,100 people.

Elon Musk will speak to Twitter employees this week for the first time at a company-wide meeting since launching his $44 billion bid in April, a source said on Monday, citing an email from Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal to staff. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, and Musk will take questions directly from Twitter employees, the source added.
Google To Pay $118 Million To Female Employees To Settle Equal-Pay Lawsuit
Google has agreed to pay $118 million to settle a class-action gender discrimination lawsuit to about 15,500 female employees. In a statement Friday, attorneys for the plaintiffs said Google — a unit of Alphabet Inc.— will also provide an independent third-party labor economist to analyze the company’s pay equity and hiring practices, to ensure female employees are not paid less than their male counterparts doing the same work.
