Sept. 11 And The Tough Road Ahead: Working Through Adversity
Twenty-one years ago, nearly 3,000 innocent people died, and thousands more were injured in the Sept. 11 attacks. Masterminded by al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, his terrorist organization hijacked airliners. The hijackers crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and one plane plowed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. It was the most significant loss of life from a terrorist attack on American soil.
Falling Gas Prices Are Raising Hopes That Inflation Is Slowing, New York Fed Survey Shows
Lower gas prices are raising optimism that inflation is on the decline, according to a survey Monday from the New York Federal Reserve. Respondents to the central bank’s August Survey of Consumer Expectations indicated they expect the annual inflation rate to be 5.7% a year from now. That’s a decline from 6.2% in July and the lowest level since October 2021.
Goldman Sachs Yanks ‘Free Coffee’ Perk As Bankers Return To Five-Day Week
It’s time for Goldman Sachs bankers to wake up and smell the coffee — and pay for it, too. As employees filed into the Wall Street giant’s headquarters in lower Manhattan last Tuesday for a mandatory return to a five-day work week, they got an unwelcome surprise: The “free coffee” station had been wheeled away, sources told the Post.

The 3 Worst Mistakes Bosses Can Make During A Recession That Lead Employees To Quit
In regular times, good bosses can be hard to find. Turbulent economic conditions — like a potentially looming recession — can make it so much worse. Paul McDonald, a senior executive director at management consulting company Robert Half, has a few thoughts about it. He’s a frequent speaker and writer on hiring, workplace and career management topics, and has spent 35 years in the recruiting field advising thousands of business leaders and job seekers.
People Are Sharing The Green Flags From Job Interviews That Tell You It’s A Good Place To Work
“When they ask you questions about yourself (What are your interests? Hobbies? What are you most proud of personally?) to show what kind of person you are rather than how much of a workhorse you will be. This shows that they are interested in learning how you will fit into the team as a person, that they aren’t interested in someone who eats, breathes, and sleeps work 24/7. They want to take a chance on someone who has work-life balance, who isn’t going to burn out in six months.”
There’s No Future for DeFi Without Regulation
America’s first experiment with DeFi didn’t end well and the second one is going badly, too. Can we learn the lessons of history to make the third try a success? Believe it or not, the blockchain era is really America’s second experiment with decentralized finance (DeFi). Long before blockchains, the U.S. was the very last of the major industrial countries to establish a central bank. The Federal Reserve System was created in 1913, more than a century after the Bank of England was established and most big European countries had their own central banks as well. Even then, the Fed was established somewhat reluctantly after a series of financial crises.
