Artificial Intelligence Has Caused A 50% To 70% Decrease In Wages—Creating Income Inequality And Threatening Millions Of Jobs
The middle and working classes have seen a steady decline in their fortunes. Sending jobs to foreign countries, the hollowing out of the manufacturing sector, pivoting toward a service economy and the weakening of unions have been blamed for the challenges faced by a majority of Americans. There’s an interesting, compelling and alternative explanation. According to a new academic research study, automation technology has been the primary driver in U.S. income inequality over the past 40 years. The report, published by theNational Bureau of Economic Research, claims that 50% to 70% of changes in U.S. wages, since 1980, can be attributed to wage declines among blue-collar workers who were replaced or degraded by automation.
Amazon Prime Day Offers Great Sales—Here’s What Workers Suffer Through To Make This Happen
Our society claims that we care about workers, but in our consumer-driven culture, cheap sales prices take precedence over what goes on behind the scenes. A cursory search on Google about Amazon Prime Day 2021 yields pages of articles touting all of the cool things you can buy. It’s not too easy to find out what effects this has upon Amazon workers.
Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman Said About His Return-To-Headquarters Plan: ‘If You Can Go To A Restaurant In New York City, You Can Come Into The Office’
You may or may not agree with Morgan Stanley CEO James Gorman’s stance on remote work, but you have to admire his blunt directness. Gorman, according to the Financial Times, said about his return-to-the-office plan, “If you can go into a restaurant in New York City, you can come into the office.” To underscore his desire for people to return to their respective offices, Gorman said he’d be “very disappointed” if workers have not “found their way into the office” by the Labor Day holiday on September 6.
The Most Brazen $400 Billion Unemployment Funds Heist In History
During the chaotic days of the pandemic, it’s alleged that an international ring of nefarious fraudsters stole over $400 billion from the United States government. This staggering amount is around 50% of unemployment monies paid out. The story sounds like a script for an upcoming movie, starring George Clooney. Bad actors from around the world, including China, Russia, Nigeria, Romania and right here at home, looted unemployment funds earmarked for out-of-work Americans by perpetrating fraudulent claims. Unknowingly, naive Department of Labor workers sent out checks to bad guys.

Workers Are Quitting Their Jobs In Record Numbers, As The U.S. Experiences A Booming Job Market
I was highly skeptical of the Texas A&M University professor Anthony Klotz’s prognostication that “the great resignation is coming.” Klotz contends, “When there’s uncertainty, people tend to stay put, so there are pent-up resignations that didn’t happen over the past year.” This should lead to a mass exodus of workers leaving their companies for greener pastures with better opportunities.
Monster, One Of The First Job Boards, Plans A Roaring Comeback Under A New CEO With A Focus On The Fast-Growing Generation-Z
Monster was one of the first job boards during the early days of the internet. A few years later, as the market leader, the job and résumé site ran a television ad during the Super Bowl in 1999. As a young recruiter, it was my go-to site to post job listings and conduct searches for candidates. Over the years, the recruiting platform has faced an onslaught of competition. Three major players, LinkedIn, Indeed and ZipRecruiter, a host of other niche and aggregation sites, along with new entrants, like TikTok, stole market share from the once-dominant Monster.
