During the chaotic days of the pandemic, it’s alleged that an international ring of nefarious fraudsters stole over $400 billion from the United States government. This staggering amount is around 50% of unemployment monies paid out.
Workers Are Quitting Their Jobs In Record Numbers, As The U.S. Experiences A Booming Job Market
I was highly skeptical of the Texas A&M University professor Anthony Klotz’s prognostication that “the great resignation is coming.” Klotz contends, “When there’s uncertainty, people tend to stay put, so there are pent-up resignations that didn’t happen over the past year.” This should lead to a mass exodus of workers leaving their companies for greener pastures with better opportunities. At first, it seemed a little too far-fetched that workers en masse would quit with or without new jobs already lined up. However, his assertion is proving true. American workers are quitting their jobs more than any other time in the past two decades.

Monster, One Of The First Job Boards, Plans A Roaring Comeback Under A New CEO With A Focus On The Fast-Growing Generation-Z
Monster was one of the first job boards during the early days of the internet. A few years later, as the market leader, the job and résumé site ran a television ad during the Super Bowl in 1999. As a young recruiter, it was my go-to site to post job listings and conduct searches for candidates. Over the years, the recruiting platform has faced an onslaught of competition. Three major players, LinkedIn, Indeed and ZipRecruiter, a host of other niche and aggregation sites, along with new entrants, like TikTok, stole market share from the once-dominant Monster.
DOJ National Security Chief John Demers Leaving Post Amid Probe Of Records Seizures
John Demers is leaving his post as head of the Justice Department’s national security division within two weeks, CNBC has learned. Americans’ Inflation Fears Reach A Fever Pitch As Consumer Prices Rise
As the economy quickly picks up steam in the wake of the Covid pandemic, Americans expect inflation to jump in the months ahead. Overall, the expectation is that the inflation rate will be up to 4% one year from now — a new high for one-year-ahead inflation expectations — and at 3.6% three years from now, the highest level since August 2013, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Survey of Consumer Expectations for May.
Microsoft Employees Slept In Data Centers During Pandemic Lockdown, Exec Says
Microsoft employees slept in the software company’s data centers during the height of the coronavirus pandemic, an executive said on Wednesday. While many top technology companies directed their employees to work from home after Covid showed up in the U.S. in 2020, some employees were so important that they had to work on site. That was the case for a select few who worked at the locations containing the servers for online services like Microsoft Teams, as well as public-cloud infrastructure powering third-party customers’ applications.
Airport Screenings Top 2 Million A Day For First Time In Pandemic
The Transportation Security Administration screened more than 2 million people at U.S. airports on Sunday, the highest number since before Covid-19 was declared a pandemic in March 2020. The increase is welcome news for airlines, hotels and other travel businesses that were devastated by the virus, travel restrictions and quarantines.
