How CEOs And Workers Feel About Working Remotely Or Returning To The Office
CEOs are wrestling with what to do about bringing back people to the office. The prevailing corporate consensus is consolidating around a flexible hybrid system, which has been championed by Google CEO Sundar Pichai. This entails offering employees an option or a combination of remote and in-office work.
Goldman Sachs CEO Wanted Workers To Return To The Office, But Now The Bank Is Having Second Thoughts
According to reporting by longtime Wall Street chronicler Fox Business Network’s Charlie Gasparino, Solomon may be walking back some of his strident requirements for his bankers to return to the office. Fox reported that Solomon, along with top Goldman partners (the senior-level executives of the firm), held a meeting with outside consultants to gain insights and recommendations. A survey of Goldman’s 38,000 employees was conducted to gain an understanding of the needs and wants of its workers.
Young Investors Are Putting Stimulus Checks Into Stocks And Bitcoin
Young investors are even more willing to gamble. Among 18- to 24-year-olds, 19% plan to put stimulus money into traditional investments, and 10% plan to buy cryptocurrencies with the cash. The numbers are higher still for millennials aged 25 to 40: 20% are putting stimulus money into traditional investments and 15% are buying crypto. Above the age of 40, the portion planning to use the money for each type of investment drops to single digits. The numbers come from a survey of 1,052 U.S. adults conducted March 12–15.
The Price To Pay For Success And Wealth: Young Goldman Sachs Bankers Complain Of ‘100-Hour’ Workweeks, Sleep Deprivation And Micromanagement
Glimpse into the life of a young Goldman banker:
“The sleep deprivation, the treatment by senior bankers, the mental and physical stress…I’ve been through foster care and this is arguably worse.”
“My body physically hurts all the time and mentally I’m in a really dark place.”
“Being unemployed is less frightening to me than what my body might succumb to if I keep up this lifestyle.”
“There was a point where I was not eating, showering or doing anything else other than working from morning until after midnight.”
“What is not ok to me is 110-120 hours over the course of a week! The math is simple, that leaves 4 hours a day for eating, sleeping, showering, bathroom and general transition time. This is beyond the level of ‘hard working’, this is inhumane/abuse.”
