The Future Of Work Will Be Five-Hour Days, A Four-Day Workweek And Flexible Staggered Schedules
Two years ago, you would have thought I was a fool for saying that nearly every white-collar professional would be working from home. If I added that people can be just as productive remotely as being in an office setting, I’d be met with mocking derision. You’d laugh at hearing me say new online video technologies would connect remote workers with their co-workers and bosses so seamlessly that they’d use it too much and it’d become tiresome.
The Best Way To Honor Fallen Soldiers And Those Lost To Covid-19 This Memorial Day Is By Leading A Meaningful, Purposeful Life
Memorial Day has morphed from honoring the men and women who valiantly sacrificed their lives for our country to the unofficial kickoff of summer and holiday sales. In light of what we’ve been through, while horrific, wasn’t storming the beaches of Normandy or being at Pearl Harbor. To also honor the Covid-19 casualties and losses, maybe we should take this long holiday to do something meaningful and worthwhile. Before you change the world, you need to get your own life in order.
Study Shows People Working From Home Are Having Sex, Dating, Taking Naps And Doing Side Hustles On Company Time
Americans are excessively eating, drinking, smoking pot, playing video games and watching porn while quarantined, I wrote back in April 2020. At the beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak, there was a heated debate about what people should be doing. Some said that this was a time for self-care and just focusing on making it through one day at a time. Others ascribed to the “hustle porn” mentality, saying you should get up early, workout, learn a new language and read 10 books a day.
The Unintended Consequences Of The Hybrid-Work Model
The prevailing return-to-work hybrid model could turn to unintended disastrous consequences. Google, Microsoft, Citigroup and Ford Motors represent the gamut of companies that are offering employees the opportunity to work two or three days a week in the office, but also provide for a substantial amount of people solely working remotely.
After A Stressful Year, One Third Of White-Collar Professionals Surveyed Plan To Take A Much-Needed Three-Week Vacation
After over a year of staying at home, working long hours into the evening and weekends, afraid of losing your job and worried about catching Covid-19, it’s time for a much-needed vacation break. According to a study from Robert Half, a large global recruiting firm, “Many workers are worn out and ready to make up for lost vacation time.” Around 44% of the respondents said that they are “more burned out on the job today compared to a year ago, up from 34% in a similar 2020 poll.” Roughly 50% have experienced “increased fatigue” and attributed it to a “heavier workload.”

Microsoft’s Hybrid Return-To-Work Plan For The ‘Biggest Shift To How We Work In Our Generation’
In a LinkedInpost, Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, wrote, “Hybrid work represents the biggest shift to how we work in our generation.” The “vast majority of employees say they want more flexible remote work options,” Nadella says based upon his research. At the same time, people state that “they want more in-person collaboration, post-pandemic.” Therein lies the hybrid-work paradox.
How To Attract The Attention Of Recruiters As We Head Into The ‘Great Resignation’ And People Look To Switch Jobs
The job market has turned hot. After sheltering in your job for over a year, people are ready to explore new opportunities. It could be because your company won’t let you continue working at home, you’d like to pivot to a new and different type of job or reinvent yourself with a new career. Sometimes, it’s just time for a change of scenery.
If You Don’t Want To Return To The Office Or Stay At Home Everyday, There’s Now A Third Attractive Way To Work
Landlords were terrified. The remote-work trend during the dark days of the pandemic looked like office buildings were a relic of a past antiquated age. In a time of social distancing, corralling thousands of human beings into close contact in steel enclosures for eight to 10 hours under fluorescent lights and forced air seemed barbaric.
Snagajob And Adzuna Are Helping Change The ‘Worker Shortage’ By Connecting Blue-Collar And Non-College-Degreed Workers With Well-Paying Jobs
The biggest and most surprising story is the United States’ current worker shortage. People in the hospitality, retail, restaurant, fulfillment and warehouse sectors, along with other blue-collar workers, bore the brunt of the massive layoffs at the offset of the Covid-19 outbreak. Now, the very same workers are in high demand. Companies loudly complain that they can’t fill openings and are losing business because there aren’t enough job applicants.
It’s A Hot Job Market For The Forgotten Janitors, Cleaning, Maintenance And Security Workers
There’s a large group of hardworking individuals who’ve been ignored. Media reports covering corporate plans for the return-to-work are nearly exclusively focused on white-collar professionals, particularly marquee names, such as Google, Microsoft, Twitter, JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs. I’m guilty of this too.
