The Economy And Job Market Show Promising Signs Of Growth As 559,000 New Jobs Were Added In May
After a discouraging anemic April jobs report—with only 266,000 jobs added—versus an anticipated increase of one million, the United States Department of Labor reported Friday another relatively disappointing report. Employment rose by 559,000 in May and the unemployment rate declined by 0.3% to 5.8%. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, “Notable job gains occurred in leisure and hospitality, in public and private education, and in healthcare and social assistance.”

The tennis star posted her statement on Twitter, writing that she was pulling out of the tournament so that “everyone can get back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris.” In the effort of self-care, Osaka said she’d “take some time away from the court.” The tennis player shared with her followers that she had “suffered long bouts of depression” since winning her first Grand Slam title in 2018. The decision was based on helping maintain her mental health, as these press conferences induce a great deal of unhealthy stress and anxiety, especially as she says she’s uncomfortable with public speaking.
